Aberta Nova beach
A famous beach less than 10 minutes driving from Melides. Golden cliffs with thick, soft white sand. Considered as one of the most beautiful beaches of the region, Aberta Nova is surrounded by dunes that separate it from the pine forest and preserve the original flora. It is a picture of Nature in its pure state. There is a trendy beach restaurant on the top of the dune with sunset parties during summer weekends. Loungers and umbrellas are available to rent.
Vigia Beach
If your idea is to be alone at the beach this is the perfect spot to go. Near Melides beach, on the other side of the Lagoon, is one of the last virgin beaches in Portugal, with transparent water ideal for dolphing watching, white sand and a savage escarpment protecting the visitors. There are no restaurants or beach bars available on Vigia beach.
Praia da Lagoa de Melides/Melides Beach
In Praia da Lagoa de Melides/Melides Beach you will find an almost infinite stretch of sand that separates the sea from the Melides Lagoon and the village. This beach offers fish and typical food restaurants, pubs and a beach bar with sun loungers and umbrellas available for hire in the summer.
Galé Beach – Surfing Spot
A huge sand extension, that travels from Melides to Comporta, an uncrowded area 50 meters away from the beach entrance, where it is possible to see dolphins playing around. There are amazing views from the rocks and orange coloured escarps over the sea. It is a good surfing spot with the beach bar and restaurant.
